It looks like a problem with RAM amounts > 4GB. I have 4GB installed but ~800 is reserved by the bios so the problem doesn't occur on my system. Enter mem=2048 as a boot parm and see what happens. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Horton [mailto:mark@nostromo.net] Sent: Tuesday, November 16, 2004 10:28 AM To: SuSe 64-bit ML Subject: [suse-amd64] suse 9.2 install kernel panic Just received Suse 9.2 and I'm getting a kernel panic when I try to install it on my Opteron system. It happens right away, after selecting "Installation". Although I don't see the kernel panic unless I select text install. If I don't select text install the screen just goes blank. I've tried tons of different kernel params, such as turning off ACPI, APM, etc... I'm using a Tyan S2885 with 8GB ram and 2 x opteron 248 processors. I can install 9.1 and 9.0 fine so I'm not sure what's wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to trouble shoot or solve this problem?
