There's a sata_sil driver in the 2.6 kernels (and >2.4.27) that works for this chipset, so you don't need to use a 3rd party driver anymore. So yes, 9.1 will work with that chipset. I have a Tyan S2885 with the sil3114 onboard raid controller. I have it working under Suse 9.0. My question is will it work under 9.1? Tyan's website has a driver for up to Suse 9.0, and Silicon Image's website only has drivers up to Suse 8.2!
Thanks, Joe
