Does anyone have any experience of getting SATA drives to work on a MSI KT8 Mobo? I've just finished installing Suse9.0 Pro AMD64 onto a PATA drive and all went well other than I would like to use a 2x SATA 160 Segate as a raid on either the VIA8237 or the Promise 20378 that are on this board. Only problem is that nothing from either of the SATA chipsets shows up during the boot. I've been looking for the location of the 2.6 kernel on the DVDs but (probably because I'm being stupid) am unable to find it,
They should be somewhere in Kraxel's ftp-dir. Kraxel, what is the correct path?
That was the info I have been waiting for.... I have a MSI K8T myself, but have not been able to find a suitable module for the VT8237. As far as I am informed (I asked for it on this list some time ago) there is no proper support yet for both of the SATA chips... Maybe A. Jäger can correct me (And I hope he does :-), maybe
A. Jäger? I don't know anybody on this list by that name - but if you mean me, then please spell me correctly ;-).
the named Kraxel has written a module, I am eagerly waiting for it...)
I don't know the status of the VIA8237 support. Kraxel (that's Gerd Knorr's nick-name) has RPMs of current 2.6 kernels in his directory, so if you like to play with 2.6, you can use his RPMs, instead of compiling the kernel yourself, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SuSE Linux AG, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
