Do we receive bug reports with “I saw this text on the screen” and accept that as enough information?

No, we would ask for the log anyway. And most likely we would pass it to the libzypp experts to check it.

That's why I think we should display minimal amount of data (just the most important data like the overall progress). With parallel download and installation it would be very difficult for the user to really understand what is actually happening. And most users are not really interested in such details anyway.
