[yast-devel] PATCH: Clean up library to set dialog title and icon

Hi! I wanted to start setting the dialog title for YaST dialogs and found out there is the infastructure prepared on the libyui-side. Just YCP does not use it. This patch improves the Wizard library a bit to do setting both icon and dialog title for the wizard dialog - the values are taken from the .desktop file and are localized. All you need to do in a module now is to replace Wizard::SetDesktopIcon("desktop-file-name"); to Wizard::SetDesktopTitleAndIcon("desktop-file-name"); If you accept the patch, I will go through the modules and start to change them to use the new functionality. Comments welcome! Stano P.S. There is no testsuite at the moment - desktop file reading involves agents (see Lukas' mail about trouble there), also Wizard testsuite is rather non-existent.

Hi, I have this idea and Lukas has pointed out that someone could be interested in it for the Hack Week, so here goes: As I am thinking about refactoring the network code, not having objects in YCP is a pain. The twist is, I don't want to add YCP objects but use Ruby objects. (We can already use Perl objects, yast2-storage does it, but it's limited.) Hi, one of my Hack Week ideas is testing YaST on http://river.suse.de/ is anyone interested? As Duncan mentioned some time ago, we have many interdependent modules so it is not easy: http://lists.opensuse.org/yast-devel/2011-06/msg00096.html I thought a simple start would be to report changes that are in SVN but not in OBS. Um, the YaST *.spec files are generated from *.spec.in file templates during 'make package' call. (See http://svn.opensuse.org/viewvc/yast/trunk/autoinstallation/autoyast2.spec.i… file in this case) This means that we need to change yast2-devtools package instead of autoyast2 (so this would also change it in all other YaST modules). [yast-devel] SVN -> OBS sync - check your packages

Hi all, as I mentioned on the call there are many changes in yast modules which are only in SVN but were not submitted to OBS Factory/12.1. It would be a shame to get a bug report after 12.1 is released and find out that it has been fixed but nobody has submitted the package... So please, check your packages and submit them if needed. [yast-devel] Getting rid of Wizard_hw module

Hi! The Wizard_hw module is deprecated for some time and might be a good idea to finally drop it. Unfortunatelly, a lot of modules are using it, although I've looked at some of them - it's not a real use and we could get rid of the module rather easily. I would like to start removing the usage from modules direclty in SVN. Please, let me know if you prefer a patch for your module or remove the dependency by yourself. Hello, a question for the size of a EFI Partition? I found a document Novell (7003263) that tell me, the partition "can be" 100-400 MB but yast2 only let me create a partition of 156 MB, in the most time a bigger Partition was mounted as /WINDOWS/C from YaST2? OK, I learning in the moment to install over (U)EFI and have no chance to set up a XEN system with EFI. I wonder if 'yast++' or 'yast--' are names that might cause trouble sometime in the future because of the '+' or '-' in it. I wasn't very happy with the version number as part of the package name in yast2. Using '++' or '--' might be even worse, e.g. rpm uses '-' as delimiter. There are more examples where it might cause conflicts, I guess. What's your opinion? Thanks. This one is not about using ButtonBox widget (at least not from the developer's point of view) because the inconsistency is in our design of the whole Wizard dialog. We often use this approach for configuration wizards: [/Back/][Next] [Back] [Next] [Back] [Finish] According to Keith Briscoe, who's already reported several button-order-related bugs, this is in fact a bug considering our wiki page http://old-en.opensuse.org/YaST/Development/Misc/Button_Order and also considering the KDE style that tries to follow a human-speech order. [OK] / [Apply] / [Continue] / [Finish] / [Yes] / ... always presented before [Cancel] / [No] / ... So, in Wizard, we still use the GNOME button order although YaST runs in KDE. I think that we could try to change the order in Wizard.ycp (or, in fact, in its Qt implementation) but it would be quite a big change and it needs to be discussed first. [yast-devel] New yast2.rpm with systemd support in YaST:HEAD, expect failures

Hi all, I have submitted a new yast2.rpm package with systemd support to YaST:HEAD. The problem is that the changed implementation in Service.ycp will very likely break test suites in many other modules. Unfortunately the OBS server is currently overloaded and almost all packages are still in state blocked/scheduled since yesterday. So I'm unable to tell which packages are affected and need update. [yast-devel] sle11 sp2 testing: rpm2dud

If you need to replace packages in the installation environment _and_ the final installed system for testing, here is a little script I came up with while working on perl-Bootloader/yast2-bootloader: http://software.opensuse.org/search?q=rpm2dud&include_home=true It converts a bunch of rpms into a driver update which can be more easily used than giving a 'dud' option for every package. Plus it works with all url schemes. Also, the script knows about the add_on_products method Lukas added to sle11 sp2 & Factory to register the rpms as repo (so the old packages get never used).
