Hope this is not off topic: I observe a strange behaviour of KDE/KDM since I succeeded in installing direct rendering.
Description: Direct Rendering is working. After booting I can login into KDE/KDM to some account. I can switch back to some console e.g. via ctrl/alt/F1 and do something. But if I switch back to the original screen via ctrl/alt/F7 the keyboard is completely dead, I have only the choice of doing a reset of the machine (ia32, Pentium4). Graphic card is ATI Radeon 9100 AGP 64 MB DDR, DVI TV-Out. Keyboard: generic intel 105.
Any ideas, where to look? Thanks, Ekkehard

Almost same here, but the keyboard is not completely dead, SysRq-B works. What about the screen? With my ATI Radeon 9700 it switchs off (Monitor can not find sync and switchs to sleep). Seems to be a bug at the ATI fglrx driver.
And one more problem. If I start kdetv, the Monitor also losts sync and switches off. CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE doesn't help. But CTRL-ALT-Fx and CTRL-ALT-DEL for reboot works. xawtv4 works.
