Hi ppl, i have a gx620 and suse 10.0 installed. soon is i try to use the radeaon driver the computer hangs. any idea ? VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV370 5B62 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)] monitor: Monitor name: DELL 2001FP this is the last msg in xorg.0.log (EE) RADEON(0): FIFO timed out, resetting engine... sax2 detects everything fine but soon as used the system chrashes. re, walter

hi list, to solve the problem i installed the prop. ati driver that solved the crash problem. strangly fglrxconfig had 1280x1024 as default while the attached tft supported much more. anything else worked out-of-the-box. re, walter ps: i tried to download the 64bit version only from ati. strangely i got stuck in a stupid firefox plugin. the driver installer was withput problem but 5 time the size. walter harms wrote:

re, walter

hi list, here the summary of installing the gx620. The point is i was to fast yesterday. the latest linux kernel 2.6.13.7 & the nvidea driver do not like eachother. as soon as the mouse moves it crashes. when i downgraded to the original suse kernel on dvd it seems to work. attention i also experimented with a driver downgrade to ati-driver-installer-8.18.6-x86_64.run. perhaps this is also important. unfortunaly i run out of time so can not check this further. ntl i am still interested in the latest X11 release (aka will we see a beta suse ?) re, walter walter harms wrote:
