Hello, I've already done the standard "RTFM" see: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2003-Sep/1733.html This "fix" actually doesn't work for me. I've tried a number of variations to the following Section: (i.e. pc105, Microsoft Natural) Section "InputDevice" Driver "Keyboard" Identifier "Keyboard[0]" Option "MapName" "Standard Keyboard [ pc104 ]" Option "Protocol" "Standard" Option "XkbLayout" "us" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" EndSection Shift+Backspace still breaks out of X. I'm about 2 seconds away from smashing my keyboard right through my screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt

Do you really have? man -P "less +'/Option .DontZap.'" XF86Config Well. Certainly there is no way to think on the configuration file for the X server if one has a "problem" with the X server (sigh!)... If it should really be shift- and not Ctrl-ALt-Backspace then it is definitly a thing with the Xmodmap and then you just need to disable the correspondig key combination in your *personal* startup file.

Henning, I'm using the following: SuSE Linux 8.2 (i586) XFree86-4.3.0-120 I'll just use the "DontZap" option you specified here. That should "bandaid" me till I reload with SuSE 9.1 in a few weeks. Many Thanks! Matthew On Sun, 2004-04-18 at 05:55, Henning Hucke wrote:
