[opensuse-xfce] X11:xfce/xfce4-branding-openSUSE - nothing provides metatheme-mint-common

Hi there, I still have to use openSUSE_Leap_42.3 on several of the systems I maintain, so in the interest to have a common XFCE on all systems either running 42.3 or 15.0, I'd like to keep the list of installed packages in sync. I just saw that xfce4-branding-openSUSE cannot be built because of its hard requirement for metatheme-mint-common. Is that really necessary? I thought mint is another forked Gnome desktop variation, so why does XFCE *require* it? Can we work around it? TIA, cheers. l8er manfred

in case there is a real must-have reason, I just branched mint-themes from openSUSE_Leap_15.0 to my home project and built it for openSUSE_Leap_42.3...: <https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/home:manfred-h/mint-themes/openSUSE_Leap_42.3/x86_64> That might be an option. FWIW3: I've now moved this stuff into a sub-project home:manfred-h:xfce and successfully built a branched xfce4-branding-openSUSE for openSUSE_Leap_42.3 ;) Dunno if you like it, but it works :) Cheers. l8er manfred

I just dropped the *mint* related BuildRequires: and Requires: statements in my branch, and the package could be built successfully. So, I'm not exactly sure why they exist at all. Does anybody know? TIA, cheers. l8er manfred

Hi Manfred, The mint-themes package is set as hard dependency to make sure that everybody gets the new look. I could set it as Recommend, but I'm aware that some people disable that and the new look would end up being "broken" for them. A better solution is to make the theme build for Leap 42.3 and I will contact the maintainer about it. Meanwhile you can add my home repo if you wish :) https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:mauriziogalli:themes/mint-theme...
