Hello,
I'd like to propose extending the XFCE-related patterns as in the attached patch. The intention behind this is to provide a more useful default installation comparable to what our LXDE desktop currently provides.
The changes are mostly oriented towards LXDE patterns, rationales for the choices follow below:
new XFCE-laptop pattern: provide laptop-specific functionality (currently synaptics touchpad and bluetooth integration)
gdm: temporary, until lightdm can run openSUSE session login/logout scripts, provides additional functionality, most notably accessibility, multi-user login
libgnomesu: avoid ugly xterm + su fallback
xdg-utils, xdg-user-dirs-gtk: basic functionality, related to XFCE
NetworkManager NetworkManager-gnome basic functionality, default on all other DE's
xscreensaver: basic functionality, particularly locking screen on suspend/hibernate
epdfview -> evince: more usable and performant, no significant difference in memory usage
xfburn totem xfce4-volumed cheese empathy transmission-gtk MozillaThunderbird patterns-openSUSE-xfce_office patterns-openSUSE-multimedia patterns-openSUSE-imaging patterns-openSUSE-remote_desktop: feature parity with LXDE (audio/video playback, multimedia keys, webcam, chatting, torrent, VNC, RDP)

Thanks! The changes seem OK to me, I forwarded the change request to coolo.
JFYI we now have 4.8pre2 ready in X11:xfce and I submitted requests to Factory so it should include 4.8pre2 soon as well.
The only 3 packages that are not building and were not forwarded to Factory are:
* orage * thunar-plugins * xfce4-volstatus
Upstream is already working on porting orage to the new API. I'm not sure about the rest, though ...
