[opensuse-wiki] Re: [Kiwi-ltsp-users] LTSP
I will pick this up. Maybe it would be nice to create a category tree for this pages. I'm sure I already encountered a page containing something like it, or am I getting confused here. Can't find it anymore, only that it still has to be fixed. http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:Support/TODO. 2010/7/7 Jigish Gohil <cyberorg@opensuse.org>:
Hi Tim
Most of the stuff in http://en.opensuse.org/Category:LTSP has been posted by me. It would be nice if wiki people can do the moving, I will be happy to fix anything that breaks after a move.

I don't want to be touching something regarding a project I don't know much off. I've put the LTSP mailinglist in CC, maybe they are unaware of the transition.

Rajko, If you'd allow me, I'm even willing to do the complete transfer of this specific topic. There a lot of sub-articles (Refer to http://en.opensuse.org/Category:LTSP) and not much time and I know you guys are very busy. As you said, it needs a big namespace classification and I think a lot of links are going to need fixing. As well as it could use a proper navigation. Just explain how this transferring this works, the rest I will find out myself. (Off course if you trust this delicate case to a stranger) Greetings, Tim 2010/7/7 Tim Mohlmann <muhlemmer@gmail.com>:

I would use transfer over export and import functions of the wiki with whole article history. Export: http://en.opensuse.org/Special:Export 1) Uncheck "Include only the current revision, not the full history" 2) List articles that you want to export, one name per line. New line is when you press Enter, not when articles name is longer then space and wraps around. Note: If you have too many articles in the list it can happen that server fails, just go with lesser files in the list. Import: http://wiki.opensuse.org/Special:Import Select exported file and upload it. Note that July 12th, wiki.opensuse.org and en.opensuse.org will lead to the same server, which is current wiki.opensuse.org. Old content will be at http://old-en.opensuse.org .
(Off course if you trust this delicate case to a stranger)
We are all strangers :) The only thing that makes us trustworthy is our work. As long as you don't get angry because people edit articles that you fixed it is all fine. It is a wiki, so edits that make article look better, but also the other way around, happen all the time. -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Send list of files that you want to move and I'll do it. It would be good, if you have time, to propose new titles , so that I can import under new titles skipping moving articles around. I'll see to add navigation between articles etc. You will have to fix images that are used by articles. -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Thanks! First I will start cleaning up category. All pages are now in LTSP (Still red link) and this will KIWI-LTSP, off course. Also some articles are still in HOWTO's and other worthless categories. After that I will make a nice navigation within the portal, so people can find there pages. Than I will clean the redirects. These subdirectories are not random ;-) even if they look so. Their name is based on the first characters of the md5sum of the filename. Take http://wiki.opensuse.org/File:Icon-distribution.png as an example: echo -n 'Icon-distribution.png' | md5sum - d03690ddf378e766db41f0715ec9a37a - ^^ The image is here: http://wiki.opensuse.org/images/d/d0/Icon-distribution.png ^ ^^ d and d0 are the first and the second character of the md5sum of the filename. Yes.
Tried something with wildcards in my commands, but this resulted in an awful lot of shit on my computer, but no Images (not any that I was able to open anyway).
The logic is: Wiki article contains somewhere included File:Some_file_or_image.suffix File:Some_file_or_image.suffix contains among other things link (path) to actual image Some_file_or_image.suffix . Suffix is jpeg, jpg, png, pdf etc. So you can use wget to download File:Some_file_or_image.suffix then parse for: <server>/<path>/Some_file_or_image.suffix put that in the list and then ask wget to download the list and put all files in one directory. Upload is still manual procedure as MediaWiki software must know where the image is stored. As we didn't systematically use import feature now it can make unexpected conflicts with existing File:Some_file_or_image.suffix , nor very likely as Christian pointed, but still possible.
From the 3 pages in my previous mail, cancel that. Only transfer: LTSP_Old to Archive:LTSP Legacy
Just in case that you haven't seen. We decided to use Wikipedia style for article title and section title capitalization. They use capital letter for first word in the title and for proper nouns. Applied to above LTSP_old and Archive:LTSP_legacy. In general it would be Archive:Some_article_about_the_Internet . The Internet is proper noun in English.
I will do something nice with the other 2 in Portal:
After that, where done with this toppic!

Rajko,
If you'd allow me, I'm even willing to do the complete transfer of this specific topic.
(Off course if you trust this delicate case to a stranger)
Hi Tim, thanks for helping with this! We have two articles that explain the new wiki concepts: http://news.opensuse.org/2010/07/05/a-new-hope/ http://news.opensuse.org/2010/07/08/the-devil-is-in-the-details/ and the wiki Portal (http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:Wiki) which links all relevant pages that explain the structure, templates, style guides etc. For concrete questions, please join #opensuse-wiki most of the time there is someone to help online. I will pick this up. Maybe it would be nice to create a category tree for this pages. I'm sure I already encountered a page containing something like it, or am I getting confused here. Can't find it anymore, only that it still has to be fixed. http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:Support/TODO.

Hi Tim
Most of the stuff in http://en.opensuse.org/Category:LTSP has been posted by me. It would be nice if wiki people can do the moving, I will be happy to fix anything that breaks after a move.
Cheers

Hi there,
I came across http://en.opensuse.org/LTSP during my big "ssh" search. I'm wondering, the transfer / review of this kind of project pages (although it's not a real openSUSE project) , is there a responsibility of the project people, or the "wiki" people. I don't want to be touching something regarding a project I don't know much off. I've put the LTSP mailinglist in CC, maybe they are unaware of the transition.
Greetings, Tim

Thanks for the hints! Yeah, IRC is a bit unstable for me, as I set in other topic, currently in libya, using ssh tunnel to home for internet, big lags, instable connections etc. I give it tries whenever it's neccecary ;). 2010/7/8 Thomas Schmidt <tschmidt@suse.de>:

Created http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:KIWI-LTSP This will be the new version for http://en.opensuse.org/LTSP I used all the information available in the original article and made it a little more compact (same info in less words). Please let me know what you think of it (so far). Of course still work is to be done regarding navigation etc. This I will do after my next step: actually transferring all the articles. 2010/7/7 Tim Mohlmann <muhlemmer@gmail.com>:
