I was wondering if some improvements in the "handling" and the layout structure of the wiki can be made: * email-notification: is it possible to add an option to get an email alert when a page on my watch list is changed/deleted/moved etc.? * Category-Layout: I noticed that there is a huge vertical gap that makes the page look like it's actually an empty template. Of course once you know that it's not empty, you can just scroll down, but occasional visitors will get frustrated and leave before they even find out. Here's an example: [http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Configuration] * Language-bar(s): Is it possible to merge the "This page in [list of languages]" Box on the right and the "Other Languages" section in the left menu box to something less obtrusive? On some pages, like [http://en.opensuse.org/Translation_Team], the right language box interferes with the text (at least in Konqueror. Firefox renders it different). And instead of having even more languages permanently listed in the left menu box, something like a dropdown-menu with all the available translations would be better. * Internal links: Another thing I noticed about the left menu box: The actual Information for users ("Use SUSE Linux") holds three links (of which "Documentation" and "Support Database" should imho be merged anyway). The other links add up to a total of 18 plus the languages. Can't that be drastically reduced? These are the things I noticed so far, but I'm sure I can come up with more suggestions if you're interested ;) -- Gruß Andreas

This is standard feauture of the WikiMedia software, and I believe just needs to be enabled. I am not sure if there are any negatives to doing that. I personally would prefer an RSS feed of my watchlist, I think there are extensions to enable that.

This is currently a logged bug.

This is my creation and was supposed to be temporary, until we got the different language wikis up. My biggest complaint about it, is that it draws more attention to the temporary translations than the official wikis. There is no easy way to merge them. I played with positioning the box using a <div> with positioning, and I can place it in the column underneath the Other Languages, but I can't position it relative to the end of the current left column, so if you cahge text size etc, it overlaps or ends up to low. I would prefer to just delete it now, but that would probably upset people, we could modify it and place it at the bottom of pages. Peter 'Pflodo' Flodin

Do you mean *I* can enable it somewhere in the preferences, or do I have to poke someone to enable the option so that it shows up in the preferences (or wherever it should show up)?

bummer!

yes, please. If merging is out of the question, then I think moving it "out of the way" is the second best option. Are you going to do it, or do you know who I should ask for it? -- Gruß Andreas

I believe this came up earlier. People need to be poked. Please turn this on. It will be much easier to stay on top of translations, omong other things. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit.
