[opensuse-wiki] iimage (Navigational Images) extension
Hi, I am currently testing the compatibility of the extensions we are using on MediaWiki 1.14.0 (in order to finally upgrade MediWiki in the near future). One extension that is currently active is iimage (Navigational Images) extension, with which one can use images for navigation: <iimg>[[page link]]![[image:image link]]</iimg> This extension does not seem to exist anymore (almost no trace to be found with Google or Yahoo). I would prefer not to use it in the future, since other methods exist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Navigational_image). Has anyone ever used this <iimg> tag? I didn't knew it even existed... . -- Regards Frank Frank Sundermeyer, Technical Writer, Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg Tel: +49-911-74053-0, Fax: +49-911-7417755; http://www.opensuse.org/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) "Reality is always controlled by the people who are most insane" Dogbert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Hi Frank, Yes, I've used this tag on the "How to Participate" and the "Geeko wants you"/"Tasks" wiki pages, in order to link the image of the "banner" to the relative subsection. I think there is a few other place where this tag is used (I discovered it once on another wiki page and simply copied it) but I don't remember at all where it was. Nevertheless, the usage of this tag seems very limited on the oS wiki, so there is not much work to adapt the existing <iimg> tags to a more convenient way. I will do the change on the mentioned pages as soon as possible :) Best regards, R. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Hi, For some reasons, I was unable to update the tag. Some of the proposed alternatives simply don't work, others need the inclusion of another template which require either an extension (ImageMap), or the inclusion of strange parsed code described as "highly risky" on WP (Template:Click and Template:!). I've no idea which method could be the best, or if the required extension is/will be installed on the future. I think I'd better not to break anything for the moment :] We can also simply drop the "clickable image" as it's not absolutely necessary. you are right - I hadn't tested the alternatives mentioned on the Help page. Seems the ImageMap template is what should be used. I will make sure it is available in the updated wiki.

...but a nice to have ;-). -- Regards Frank Frank Sundermeyer, Technical Writer, Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg Tel: +49-911-74053-0, Fax: +49-911-7417755; http://www.opensuse.org/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) "Reality is always controlled by the people who are most insane" Dogbert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Ok. It seems to me that the ImageMap plugin isn't available on the wiki at the moment, so I will wait the wiki update before committing the required adjustments :) Regards, R. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org
