[opensuse-wiki] Redirects for YaST related pages

Hi, recently I have created some redirects for URLs which are mentioned in the YaST sources. We (the YaST package maintainers) will replace the URLs in the YaST sources by the new ones but the redirects should be available over a longer period because all former SLE products and openSUSE versions (including 11.4) contain the links and we wont't provide updates for all the packages. redirected to: YAST Portal:YaST YaST Portal:YaST YaST/Style_Guide openSUSE:YaST_styleguide Libzypp/Package_History openSUSE:Libzypp_history Libzypp/Locksfile openSUSE:Libzypp_locksfile Documentation Portal:Documentation Linuxrc SDB:Linuxrc Standards/One_Click_Install openSUSE:One_Click_Install_specification One_Click_Install openSUSE:One_Click_Install Bugs/YaST openSUSE:Report_a_YaST_bug Greetings Gabi -- Gabriele Mohr SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5 Tel: +49 911 740 53 362 90409 Nürnberg Email: gs@suse.de ----------------------------------------------------------------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for doing that.

It seems that we have to rethink current links as well :)
redirected to: ... YaST/Style_Guide openSUSE:YaST_styleguide
YaST/Style_Guide >> http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:YaST_style_guide it is 2 words. I moved openSUSE:YaST_styleguide to above. Links point now to the new file.
Libzypp/Package_History openSUSE:Libzypp_history
openSUSE:Libzypp_history should be probably openSUSE:Libzypp_package_history The same as above. Let me know and I'll move page and fix links.
Libzypp/Locksfile openSUSE:Libzypp_locksfile
Not sure about locksfile, to me it seems to be a "lock file" or the "lock files". Let me know, which one is preferred.
Standards/One_Click_Install openSUSE:One_Click_Install_specification One_Click_Install openSUSE:One_Click_Install
Thinking about One_Click_Install, why is that in openSUSE: when it is one of features that help new users and article is nothing more than few words of introduction.

Thank you for that.
Libzypp/Package_History openSUSE:Libzypp_history
openSUSE:Libzypp_history should be probably openSUSE:Libzypp_package_history The same as above. Let me know and I'll move page and fix links.
I didn't create the page and I am not in the libzypp team. So I didn't know whether 'package' from Libzypp/Package_history is intentionally skipped. The page is about the file /var/log/zypp/history, so maybe it makes sense to name the page openSUSE:Libzypp_history_file (like below).
Libzypp/Locksfile openSUSE:Libzypp_locksfile

I didn't create the page. But AFAICS from the page it's about the file /etc/zypp/locks and in the text it's called "the locks file". I think the name should be openSUSE:Libzypp_locks_file.
Standards/One_Click_Install openSUSE:One_Click_Install_specification One_Click_Install openSUSE:One_Click_Install

openSUSE:One_Click_Install_specification was already in the wiki, that's why I have created openSUSE:One_Click_Install. I have also created openSUSE:One_Click_Install_Developer (should be: One_Click_Install_developer?), openSUSE:One_Click_Install_UserFAQ (should be: One_Click_Install_user_FAQ?),openSUSE:One_Click_Install_ISV. The namespace openSUSE seems to be OK for me.

That was quite few links and redirects.

The rest some other time.
Please don't do any further changes. We will replace the old URLs by the new ones in the YaST sources and if the name of the page change the URL will get invalid again. -- Gabriele Mohr SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5 Tel: +49 911 740 53 362 90409 Nürnberg Email: gs@suse.de ----------------------------------------------------------------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Hi, should I add this redirects to [[Category:Redirects to stay]] and so to the list of "Redirects to stay" on http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Redirects_to_stay with a link to this mailing list thread in the archive (a link on the redirect page or on the discussion page of the redirect or on the discussion page of the category page?)? Or would it be a better if Gabi would do it so that someone could see on the history of the redirect page who did it and could ask the appropriate person for the grounds of that change? No need for so many details as no one will actually try to remove pages that are listed in the http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Redirects_to_stay . Those redirects are usually from documentation and you can't change them any soon. My humble estimate is that they will last next few years. Apropos whom to contact, is listed on the category page - wiki team.

So to the first and more important part of my question/proposal -> you will also add or add-not the redirect pages to that category? The redirects in Gabi's email are in the http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Redirects_to_stay . I didn't understand your question because all of them were categorized before I sent email out. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org
