[opensuse-wiki] New template

Henne and the rest of the gang, This is what I meant on IRC earlier today. I couldn't stop working on it, so I completed it. I created a template: http://en.opensuse.org/Template:Screenshot_step You need to reed the Doc to understand it. Basicly it's a table line, without the table, allowing to create more fancy screenshot pages, without the screenshots filling the whole page. For each step/instruction this template can be inserted. It makes the page more attractive for the eye and easier to read. It is not mandatory to define a image for each step, when none is specified a nice blank area is presented. The images are clickable and direct to the actual image, so not to the File:page. I implemented the Template on http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Live_CD_installation_for_11.3 Compare it with http://en.opensuse.org/Archive:Live_CD_installation_for_11.1 and tell me which one you like the most ;) If you guys like this style for screenshot pages, maybe we can create a boilerplate using this template. The page itself (http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Live_CD_installation_for_11.3) still needs some attention: I don't have screenshots for step 6 and 7, my computer crashed two times in attempts to get screenshots in this stage. In the bottom there's a chapter ==Note on installation to large partitions== which is kinda fuzzie, so it needs attention. My eyes are tired now and I'm going to bed! Hope you enjoy it, Tim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Great work Tim!
I like the new concept and template very much (as far as I am able to understand it). And the article based on that really has a very nice look. Surely it was a big piece of work - hope I puzzled nobody to much with my mention of the discussion page. But maybe the thumbnails could be made a bit bigger than "150px wide". And if I had to install some thing based on that instruction without a second computer on the hand - I would like to have a easy way to print it all with one or two clicks (printing the thumbnails would not make much sense - I think even with eyes that are less tied than mine now ;) To the group of siblings under: http://wiki.opensuse.org/SDB:Installation#Basic_installation Is a 'new' 11.2 CD install article really planned? I would think the improvement/checking of the article on the live usb installation/live USB stick (especially for 11.3) should at least have priority over that - what are the new 11.3 fancy netbook features/graphic environments for if a user will not get over the installation? http://wiki.opensuse.org/Talk:Product_highlights Greetings pistazienfresser -- - openSUSE 11.2 with GNOME 2.28.2 (or KDE 4.3.5) and Kernel Linux 2.6.31.12-0.2-default (or pae, Ubuntu 10.4 LTS 'lucid' 2.6.33-22-genetic, MS Win XP) - Samsung X20 (SX20S) with Pentium M 740 (1730 MHz), Intel graphic 915GM, 1400x1050 - openSUSE profile: https://users.opensuse.org/show/pistazienfresser -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the feedback I now made the images 200px wide. I'm wondering if the images take eg " width 30%" in stead of 200px? (Like tables). Anyway, time for work, I will look in to it more tonight. Greeting, Tim 2010/7/21 pistazienfresser <pistazienfresser@gmx.de>:
