I tried something on http://en.opensuse.org/Sandbox. It works, but is not shuch a nice eye candy. It would be nice if we could exclude the comments from that list.
from collection that change with every page reload (like on the Portal pages).
Recent changes as in what is going on the wiki and around. The Special:RecentChanges is not good as it has too much of information that is relevant only for wiki editors, not casual wiki visitors. http://en.opensuse.org/Sandbox -- check it again ;). I created http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Wiki_activities and put some content there.
My idea: Major activities can be put on that page. Like big re-writes and new interesting topics. A small summary of that can be included on the Main_page (now sandbox) with the <noinclude> and <includeonly> tags. If the team agrees with this approach, I will start filling the "Wiki activities" page with content and update the Main_page. Suggested work flow after this process: * Protect openSUSE:Wiki activities, since it will be a delecate job updating this and it can spoil the main page layout and content. * If people want to make contributions, they can put it on the discussion page, after which an admin updates the page. * During page review on the wiki, we should notice major changes on some topics, which we can publish on this page. * We keep data on the activities page a few months around * But we only include the most recent items on the main page. (Eg. not more space consuming than the other content.) * The included data should not be more than around 5/6 lines in the box Greetings, Tim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org
