Help repairing boot capability of HP-g6-2321dx Laptop PC):

Hi, and good day to you🥶. I have a 64bit HP Laptop and I was attempting to install then enforce SELinux and it simply just kept locking me out (I created a custom snapshot) to fall back on and retry more easily. The final *blow* to the boot process is that I made an inappropriate adjustment of some kind with YaST Bootloader tool. It rendered the Laptop *non-bootable*. I have managed to create a functional (for the Laptop) openSUSE live installer with Rescue system with dos disklabel type (shown below): Disk /dev/sdc: 7.46 GiB, 8011120640 bytes, 15646720 sectors Disk model: Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disklabel type: dos Disk identifier: 0x3e2e59d1 Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type /dev/sdc1 2892 15239 12348 6M ef EFI (FAT-12/16/32) /dev/sdc2 * 15240 9035775 9020536 4.3G 17 Hidden HPFS/NTFS - I am now able to boot the Laptop into Rescue Mode. I have attached an image of lsblk -f output once rescue mode has been entered.:< https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/dc2de83861f5 the /sda1 vfat FAT32 exists because I did not wipefs prior to installing openSUS Tumbleweed onto the ssd (I think) or is this where the bootloader needs to be placed? UEFI bios boot is off. How can I add a version of grub so that the machine can boot with the legacy boot bios type selected? The experience of trying to get this to boot again is of a good learning value I think. -Thanks

I don't talk SELinux. And it is TW, and encrypted... I already have a headache just thinking about it. Gosh...! Good luck, but I can not help, sorry. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.5 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Thank you, your help in the past, it has been wonderful. I was able to get the machine to boot again. Talk about a rush!!!! I really wish there was somewhere I could discuss some minor questions I have about the boot loader location and so on. I don't have a fancy gui boot menu anymore either. I'm sorry to have written this message now! -Goodbye!

Don't be. Often when writing up a report you clarify your ideas and find out what was needed or was wrong. You can ask about boot loader things in this mail list. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.5 x86_64 at Telcontar)
