GCC 3.3.1 refuses to compile default suse kernel.
Hi, I can not compile the kernel, I get unresolved symbols. I have (suse 8.2): kernel-source-2.4.20.SuSE-100 k_deflt-2.4.20-100 gcc-3.3.1-0 Running kernel: Linux nimrodel 2.4.20-4GB #1 Wed Aug 6 18:26:21 UTC 2003 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux This should go without a glitch and compile a kernel identical to the suse binary. But it doesn't. I might have to go back and downgrade gcc. Sequence: clean, cloneconfig, dep, bzImage, modules, modules_install... and error: make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.20.SuSE/arch/i386/lib' cd /lib/modules/2.4.20-CER; \ mkdir -p pcmcia; \ find kernel -path '*/pcmcia/*' -name '*.o' | xargs -i -r ln -sf ../{} pcmcia if [ -r System.map ]; then /sbin/depmod -ae -F System.map 2.4.20-CER; fi depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-CER/kernel/drivers/isdn/icn/icn.o depmod: strchr depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-CER/kernel/drivers/isdn/isdnloop/isdnloop.o depmod: strchr depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-CER/kernel/drivers/scsi/pcmcia/fdomain_cs.o depmod: fdomain_setup depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-CER/kernel/fs/reiserfs/reiserfs.o depmod: strchr -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
