I need to build a module for a Radeon 9000 for use with the Mantel k_smp-2.4.21-59.i586 kernel. kernel-source is not yet installed. In Mantel's directory there are several files and it's not clear to me which one(s) I need: README k_smp-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm k_athlon-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm k_smp-2.4.21-59.src.rpm k_athlon-2.4.21-59.src.rpm kernel-source-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm k_deflt-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm kernel-source-2.4.21-59.src.rpm k_deflt-2.4.21-59.src.rpm kernel-source-um-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm The kernel I have installed was from k_smp-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm but I'm not sure which combination from k_smp-2.4.21-59.src.rpm kernel-source-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm kernel-source-2.4.21-59.src.rpm kernel-source-um-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm contain the source to it. Apologies if this is a dumb question. It's all a new area for me. I'll be happy to RTFM, if somebody can tell me which one. Thanks, Dave

Only dumb if you don't ask it Dave! ;o) I am not sure what the -um is or refers too, but all you should need is the kernel-source-2.4.21-59.i586.rpm for your compiling. Pat -- --- KMail v1.5.3-2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

um, ah, I don't know either, I wish Mantel would give a clue in a readme somewhere. But mostly I just piped up to say that there are revisions on the site ad of 9/5 so you get to download again. ;-) -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

The "um" stands for "user mode" for the user mode linux kernel, also referred to "uml", such as 2.4.x-xx-uml. That's my take at least. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/WXIciqnGhdjCOJsRAhTUAJ0WxdrMMtOFSs02LxoB5ElWLSpyJgCfeXTj PigTzAQADrH6ZS03Jo4GjlU= =/5lQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
