Sometimes when I run YaST I will see no items in the updates frame that are checked. However, when I have nothing checked and hit the accept button, I might still get a patch.

You should select "Include already installed patches" (back-translated from Italian ;-) There were other pine patches in the past months, and the base config of YOU is to show you only the patches you never applied. It's a little bug, but it's mostly harmless, and I'm sure I'll be fixed for the next release :-) Ciao, Rob!
