I just got my system back to normal without reinstalling(it's a major accomplishment for me). In sax2 the card works if I use rv250 lf, but if i choose Radeon 9000 I get a no screens found error. Is there a way to get through this? On gears I get 320 fps full screen, is this what i should expect? Unfortunately only the radeon 9000 choice in sax2 can tell that i have a tv out on the graphics card, so I'd like to get this working if possible. Something about tux racer on my tv makes me smile. I found out yesterday that ati has linux drivers. I failed miserably at recompiling my kernel, but managed to recover. I assume my mistake was having the wrong kernel source. Where would i get the kernel source for k_athlon 2.4.20-100? Is it the same as the src rpm? I also noticed that the 9000 isn't listed. But ati barely ever lists this card on their website. Has anyone tried the new drivers with the 9000? -- Franklin Maurer Using SuSE 8.2 Pro

Franklin, You should be getting much better results than what you mentioned. I just got the 9200, but I used the ATI drivers (3.4.5). The 9200 was not supported in the 8.2 installed XFree86 4.3, but is in the 4.3.99 cvs available now. The 9000 was supported though, but I am not sure about 3D or whether you still need to build the ATI kernel module for that. I am pretty sure the 8500 was 3D supported, so the 9000 should be as well, plus the 9100. What you might do is go to a shell and run "lspci -v" to get a readout of your cards specs. From that you might be able to better choose the model in your sax2 setup. It helps to have the info when running sax2 at least. Your fps should be well over 1000 though, correctly configured. Do you mean 3.2.5? On the site all I see is XFree 4.3.0 Version: 3.2.5

Were is this available from?

that's full screen fps, right? here's the output of lspci -v 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 If [Radeon 9000] (rev 01) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 2002 Flags: bus master, stepping, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 5 Memory at d4000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M] I/O ports at 9000 [size=256] Memory at dd000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [58] AGP version 2.0 Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2 01:05.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Radeon 9000] (Secondary) (rev 01) Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 2003 Flags: bus master, stepping, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 32 Memory at d8000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M] Memory at dd010000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2 I was just actually able to get the radeon 9000 setting in sax to work, but my gears are still slow. 2100 fps small, 320 fps full How do I build the ati kernel module?
