[opensuse] upgrade to 11.2 -- have graphical boot, but no desktop -- just a web-doc greeting.
How can I get a regular desktop to appear? Seems like no desktop manager is starting. All I see besides the web-doc greeting is an xconsole window. I tried changing the window manager but that either didn't start or had same empty desktop. Any hints on how to initialize it? I have similar symptoms trying to start a remoteX desktop, thought I eventually get a timeout there. Not very useful if it boots up in desktop and you can't access anything. :-) linda -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
If anyone responded to this, could they resend, my email was tossing cookies over the weekend and I lost incoming email ... 2nd time in 14 years...sigh... each time I fix the previous problem, but it didn't die in the same way this time...sigh. Anyone know a way to make sendmail NEVER bounce an email due to delivery error, but just queue it? best I found was reject with 'temporary error' (which is better than the permanent error I was returning over the weekend.. sigh!) ...when it rains it pours.... You can use the list archive to check for yourself. And you can also get an mbox file with all the emails of a month, and import it on to your mail client program.
