RE: 9iDS installation on 8.2 Pro
All, I try to install 9iDS on 8.2 Pro. Installation completed sucessfully; however, linking produces error 'Error in invoking target install of makefile ins_reports.mk'. I found a note in melink suggesting installing xdevel-4.2.0-8.i386.rpm. I do not have the Suse CD w/ me. Anyone know where I can download this? Thanks, LN.

If you go to your target directory for 9iDS (perhaps /opt/oracle/product/9ids) and go to the reports/lib directory and type: "make install -f ins_reports.mk" you should get a better description of the error, most likely a missing library or a library hardcoded with the wrong version (as was my case). You may need to install additional libraries or update the makefile. Josh
Yes it is a missing library, I think it may be that you have to install gcc_old to get it to work. I get the same problem, but it goes away on SLES 8. Justin
