Greetings, What is the correct way to configure and use an external monitor on a laptop? In my case, I would like to use an external 1280x1024 LCD display. How should I configure the monitor and color/resolution settings in Yast2 in order for the system to be able to handle connection/disconnection of the external monitor without the X settings being messed up? My problem is similar I have two monitors one nice 19" for use at home and a 14" to take to the lug. At this point I can not cp XF86Config.home to XF86Config even as root to maintain both. It would be ideal as a solution to make life simpler. if there is a way to do this then both our problems are solved. CWSIV On Fri, 22 Aug 2003 09:24:01 +0200 Per-Olof Litby <politby@sun.com> writes:

How do I maintain two setups one of which is 800x600 low refresh and the other 1024x768 16bit color.
