Serail ATA controller from Adaptec
Hi, does anybopy have any experience with SuSe 8.1/8.2 and S-ATA controllers from e.g. Adaptec and/or Promise ? Any concerns/pitfalls/problems, or are things seamless ? Ideally, I'd love to stay on 8.1 if possible ... Thanks Werner

I have an Intel m/b with integrated SATA controller that now seems to be working OK. (anybody got any suggestions for tests to confirm it?) I'm using a 2.4.21 kernel because I had hangs when I enabled SATA with the 2.4.20 that comes with 8.2. Sorry, don't know anything about the controllers you mention except that in my browsing to get mine running I saw lots of stuff about problems with some Promise hardware or other. No idea whether that is accurate or still the case or which lists I saw it on (here, debian-user, kernel etc) Cheers, Dave

Can I assume that you had to compile this kernel yourself ?
