Boot problem after accidental poweroff
Hi I have problem with my home pc, my daughter accidentally powered off my pc while I was in the middle of a Palm hot sync and now when it is rebooting it hangs on the loading hot plug devices, what steps should I take to get my pc back up and running. I tried to boot from the cd and do the rescue option but I can't mount the partition on the hard disk. I don't want to reinstall and this all happened just before I was about to backup my pc overnight what luck I have. Is there a check disk utility I can run in SuSE ? I am running SuSE 8.2 with all the latest patches. Like resolving hostnames, replacing the local ip by "local" (separating this incoming from outgoing), the port numbers by services (including those used by edonkey and the lot), etc? And then, statistics? -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Why? what does it say? Did you run a fsck on it? Ah, please, don't do that! (below). It is thread hijacking, and you haven't even removed the useless text of the original poster (meself, in this case).
