Sending Email with kmail works only if I give the IP of the SMTP server: ========================================================= I can pick up my email (POP3) from "mail.myserver.com", very slow, but it works. But I cannot send to the SMTP server at "mail.myserver.com". However when I give the IP of it instead of "mail.myserver.com", it works.
Check the MX DNS record for "mail.myserver.com": $ nslookup
set type=MX mail.myserver.com
The corresponding IP address may differ from the A record that you use. (Here, I suppose kmail uses the MX record but I'm not sure.) -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se

I would have hoped it used the exakt adress I give it in "SMTP server" in the config. MX records are used for sending mail to remote locations, not for your local SMTP relay. regards Anders
