Does anyone else have problems with Mozilla 1.4 or Mozilla-Firebird 0.6.1 as far as cookies are concerned. It seems that they seem to just be losing themselves. I was reading salon.com this morning and then went back a couple hours later..and had to re-login. This kind of thing happens with no rhyme or reason..I can sometimes go days without having to login again after I've told a site to remember me. This started with 1.4beta1 and has continued..never happened with 1.3.1 and below. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

Firebird/0.6.1+ I keep TVGuide reloading every 30 minutes and it drops out saying that it needs cookies enabled. This is new action starting about 10 days ago. It used to run for weeks (unless, of course, I installed a new nightly issue). I am running thru privoxy but have all cookies enabled in the browser. My.yahoo and my.myway do not seem to mind. Using same parameters. I only update every 7-10 days unless I find some feature that I consider necessarily useful not working properly. Right now rearranging tabs by drag-drop will hang firebird, so I have installing nightly builds almost every day =8:^( Using 20030905 and down loading 20030906 for immediate install now. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

I'm using Mozilla 1.5b, 200300906, and Firebirs 0.6.1+, 20030903, and the cookies are working fine. I know it's a waste of time to ask, but did you check the settings for the cookies in the Privacy settings? Cheers. -- Understanding only begins with the act of perception.

Yeah. I have both Mozilla 1.4 and MF 0.6.1 set to just accept all cookies. It's weird. I'm not sure why this happens. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

I just checked the expiry date on of the sites that seems to be frequently lost and it's set to expire 29 days from today but I usually have to re-login to this site every two or three days. Ben - Maybe it isn't you. Maybe it's the site. I also like to visit DeviantArt (although I'm not a member so am not logging in) and they've changed a lot over the last month or so. I don't think the site works nearly as well as it used to, and maybe they just haven't got their cookie handling down properly. Just a thought. In both Mozilla's /.mozilla and Firebird's /.phoenix directories and the sub-dirs /default/*.slt/ there is a generated file called cookies.txt. Have a look at it and see if it contains the cookies for the sites you visit. It would pay to access this/these file/s from another Desktop while you are on-line just to check if some are disappearing while you are on-line. My cookies.txt contains no cookies because my Privacy settings are configured to accept cookies only from the originating site and keep them only for the duration of the session. (In fact, even during a session I may Clear the cookies before going to a particular site.) Cheers. -- Understanding only begins with the act of perception.

Ben, Have you solved the mystery of the Disappearing Cookies from the cookie Jar? Cheers. -- Understanding only begins with the act of perception.

Ben,
Have you solved the mystery of the Disappearing Cookies from the cookie Jar?
Not really. I think it's specific sites because some work right while others are a PITA. I'm chalking it up to bad code on the server side. :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.
