Netgear MA01RA wireless card setup in 8.2
I have been unable to get this card to work on my Compaq Presario 2170. I have followed the instructions from the support database article on this subject, and I have scoured this list and others looking for help. The card appears to be active, and gets an IP address from my router. I can ping the built-in ethernet card but not the router. I think the problem is in the mode setting, but changing it to anything except ad-hoc generates this error message: ERROR: command 'iwconfig eth1 mode automatic' returned Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) : SET failed on device eth1 ; Invalid argument. However, the card still gets an IP address from the router. Also, I cannot seem to turn off either card with the ifdown command. When I ifup again, the dhcp daemon assigns an IP address again, but the connection appears active without the ifup. Does anyone have any suggestions? Zane -- Zane Vandiver <zvan@sbcglobal.net>

iwconfig eth1 mode Managed. The Netgear USB wireless adapter connected to this PC accepts this command. LW999
