Some known equivalent?
Regarding your: "What problems? I have none with openSUSE Leap 15.3." I know that it is not a problem of Leap 15.3 ;-) but I guess you mean this one: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1230471/does-xfce-xubuntu-have-a-system-moni... Was easily compileable on Tumbleweed: install prerequisites git clone https://github.com/udda/multiload-ng cd multiload-ng/ ./autogen.sh ./configure --disable-autostart make make install as root. ;-)

This does not seem to be the applet I want. I made a photo and tried to upload to susepaste, but could not, I get "page not found". I'll try Google Photo. https://photos.app.goo.gl/jc2ArX65Eb2Kxc8e8 The applet is tiny, a single box that displays what is shown in the configuration window at the left: CPU load for user, system, nice, and IOwait, each using a different colour. There are many that do similar, but *none* displays IOWait. And IOWait tells you why a machine doesn't respond when the CPU is doing nothing: that's what makes this applet very useful (the default colour is black, thus it is impossible to see even in this applet). The applet you propose paints a bunch of boxes. I want only one.
Was easily compileable on Tumbleweed: install prerequisites git clone https://github.com/udda/multiload-ng cd multiload-ng/ ./autogen.sh ./configure --disable-autostart make make install as root.
;-)
If you think that I'm confused and that this is the applet I want, I will try a go at building it. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)

The developer discontinued the app. See link below. On 2022-02-28 22:38, Carlos E. R. wrote:

You sure? The developer seems to point i the direction of multiload-ng https://github.com/nandhp/multiload-nandhp/issues/11 -- /bengan

I fiddled around with it on build.opensuse.org. Think I screwed up the spec file. If you have an account you can fork it and take over it, if you want, or Markus, or both :). I was just goofing around to see if I could get it to compile on OBS but apparently I'm too tired to do anything right now. Better hit the sack. Some language warnings, then a linker error, syntax error in VERSION script. Well, that's the problem with using GIT instead of a stable release.

I took a stab at this, results are here: https://build.opensuse.org/repositories/home:sbradnick/multiload-ng Seems to work just fine in a TW Hyper-V VM running a fresh install of XFCE. Builds fine for TW & Leap 15.3 x86_64. Thanks, but I am on Leap 15.3. There is no version. Do you know what is the -devel package for libxfce4panel, and where to obtain it? Then I might build it myself. I'm stuck. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Wonderful! And it does what I wanted! :-D
I'll invite you two to a coffee or beer sometime :-)
Thanks but all cred goes to Scott. I was merely the catalyst. I may even have been the not-so-successful Philip J. Fry in this. :) Cheers, -- /bengan

Cheers,
Since I didn't create the base .spec file, I don't deserve the credit ~ we can all take credit for it 😉️ or give the real credit to udda[1] and/or nandhp[2]. I simply noticed the patch was trying (and failing) to do something that was already done (by the latest commit). Other stuff was just cleanup (at least in terms of how I've been doing things with build.opensuse.org in the last year or so ~ and I've still got many things to learn). multiload-ng seems to be usable in my bspwm+tint2 setup/workflow - even if not completely necessary (I generally use conky), but I'd consider submitting it to Factory and Leap15.3 Backports if you'd rather have it available via more normalized means (than a single RPM download or adding my home:sbradnick repo). Maybe the XFCE people could take the package, but I don't know how exactly to tell them. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)

That's a possibility, but from what I gather - this isn't something which is [only] XFCE specific ; xfce4 isn't a requirement to use it, but it can supplement an XFCE4 panel, among a list of others. I'm using it with tint2[1] [1] https://paste.opensuse.org/70241624 I've re-worked the .spec file and there's now a -base and -xfce4 package. If someone wants to use it with xfce4, it will install both packages, otherwise they can just install -base. If you'd like to test installing multiload-ng-xfce4 (which would pull in -base) and ensure it *still* works for you - that'd be great. My testing has shown positive results. -- ~ Scott Bradnick |- Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) Developer |-- Tumbleweed: |--- Dell Precision 5540 [NVIDIA Quadro T1000] (x86_64) |--- O-DROID H2+ [UHD Graphics 600] (x86_64) |--- 2x Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2 (aarch64) |--- WinBook TW100 (x86_64) https://keys.openpgp.org/ :: DBC5AA9A2D2BAEBC

Ah, it is valid for other desktops, I forgot. That increases usability.

You can get the repo file for my home repo from https://build.opensuse.org[1] [1] https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/sbradnick/openSUSE_Leap_15.... I just installed it on my tiny laptop (while the desktop keeps the other version for now), seems to be working fine :-) -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)

I probably need libxfce4panel-devel or something. Opi doesn't see it, so I'm stuck.
https://software.opensuse.org/package/libxfce4panel-2_0-4
is worse, claims there is no 15.3 package, but there is.
I am not sitting in front of my Suse Laptop, but xfce4-panel-devel installed without problems on Tumbleweed afair. 15.3 may be different.
