Could anyone please help.. If you want to set it for your installation, place it in /etc/profile.local. This will be sourced by your shells when they start up. You could also put it in your .xinitrc file if you want to do it per user. The reason for the .xinitrc file and not .bashrc is that you want it to be picked up by utilities started directly by KDE.
