# zypper up
Tumbleweed installations are maintained with plain 'zypper dup', note the missing 'd'. There is a conversation about this every other week.
Of course without a working zypper I'm not sure what I can do about any of this.
Boot the Tumblweed installer with the 'upgrade=1' kernel cmdline option. At some point it asks for the repositories to be used. Adjust them manually, there is a checkbox for it. In the list enable the existing repositories as needed, perhaps also adjust the priorities for certain repos in case desired packages are provided by more than one repository. There is a knob to upgrade either installed packages or do the upgrade based on patterns. Pay attention to the bootloader settings in case a non-standard setup has to be used. Good luck. Olaf
I subscribe to both lists so there's no need to cc me personally. On 01/03/17 10:12 AM, Olaf Hering wrote:

Yes, I know, and it buqquers up a lot of other stuff I feel is more important such as the GIT extracts of my photography tools.

Excuse me? What's the "Tumblweed installer"? I did not install from a DVD. I haven't installed from a DVD except when I have to deal with a new machine and new virgin drive and that hasn't been since the 13.1 days.

I think I've brought about the same result simply by changing the repositories that matter to me. The problem is that when I tried doing a 'zypper -dup \ --no-allow-vendor-change \ --repo Tumbleweed I (used to) get a few hundred requests for a vendor change anyway! Buquuer That for a Lark! My problem now is that zypper won't work. It won't work if I use "up'. It won't work if I use "dup". It won't work if I use "info" I can run zypper --help :-) Anything about zypper that involves accessing the 'net doesn't work. Telling me to use the DVD is dysfunctional, I never used the DVD to start with. Is there some way to make zypper access a repository without using the /usr/lib64/libproxy.so.1 ? Perhaps address a repository without going through the proxy mechanism?
perhaps also adjust the priorities for certain repos in case desired packages are provided by more than one repository.
Done that to start with!

This is either the NET.iso or the plain linux+initrd from the install media. https://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/iso/openSUSE-Tumbleweed-NET-x86_64-... Copy the two files below to a new /boot/tw/ directory and create /boot/grub2/custom.cfg: menuentry 'TW' { insmod gzio linux /boot/tw/linux upgrade=1 initrd /boot/tw/initrd } https://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss/boot/x86_64/loader/linux https://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss/boot/x86_64/loader/initrd

rpm -Uvh --oldpackage http://... will work as well.

Whatever is needed for the system in question. If TW is the only installed OS the proposal is most likely alright. Olaf

Which is why you should do: zypper dup --no-allow-vendor-change It should have avoided your current problem. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. What I'm NOT clear about is whether I should list repos after that or if somehow Zypper is smart enough to apply it to all the report, taking into account priorities. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
