Hi All, I am sure most of you are familiar with tar -W which verifies the files after writing to tape. example of command: tar -V labeloftape -cvWf /dev/st0 /home/user1 /home/user2 I have come across the need to verify the files (entire tape or individually) at a later date. So basically I want to put in a tape and then compare it's contents to the files on the server's file system and list the differences in the output. Does anyone know how to do this? I cannot seem to find many helpful suggestions on google (but several people have asked the same question). Maybe you could temporarily mount it? https://www.linux.com/news/mounting-archives-fuse-and-archivemount As root: $ zypper install archivemount As user: $ mkdir mnt $ archivemount tests.tar.gz mnt ... $ meld mnt otherdir $ fusermount -u mnt Have a nice day, Berny -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
