Hi everybody. Can some kind soul fill me in on Samba configuration. I've been through the manual, and I've been to samba.org, but I can't get my linux box to act as a print server for the WinME system on the lan. I created a RAW CUPS print queue using YaST for my attached parallel printer - an Epson Stylus 850 Then I edited my runlevels so that Samba would be running on level 3 and 5 After a reboot, shouldn't the printer show-up as a Windows network printer? What have I forgotten? AtDhVaAnNkCsE -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER@CONSOLIDATEDLINT.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE

Hi Jay, Have you made sure that the hosts.allow and hosts.deny do not include only local computers but also IPs of the WinXXXX network?? Another idea is to issue an rcsamba status command to see if it is actually running, in the extreme case that it is not. You can also check the smb.conf file from a nice utility. At your prompt issue testparm and see if there are any messages appearing that samba can inform you about. Good luck!!
