I have a epson stylus color 440 printer.
I can print ok in Black but not in color any help appreciated. I'm using Suse 6.2

Remove the /etc/aps* and /etc/printcap* files, and use YaST to configure the device. System Administraton, Integrate Hardware, Printer Configuration. Put an X (space bar) in color, Other Printer Type, `stcolor', lp0 (for first parallel port), 360x360; that's it :).
On a side note, the GhostScript that SuSE is allowed to ship does not talk to stcolor devices consistently at resolutions > 360x360. For this, you'll need to go the the FTP global update site (the location escapes me), and download the new versions of apsfilter and ghostscript. For licensing purposes, SuSE cannot ship these packages on the CD, but they are freely available for download.
Try and set the printer up in YAST as:
Enable colour Use stcolor as the printer Use 360x360 dpi resolution
My Epson stylus 600 works fine with these sttings
