A friend of mine who has been using Windows on his laptop is trying to switch to Linux on the desktop (Yeay!). He is using debian. The one big problem we can't overcome is setting up dual head on the laptop so that he can use both the laptop screen and an external 17" LCD. The set up already works unders WinXP. The chipset is from trident. Has anyone done this with a laptop, especially a toshiba portege? It would be nice to know whilst we are bashing our heads against a brick wall that this is solveable.
