/home/osrt-repo-checker I have this directory in my home directory. I have no pale idea what program did create it in /home In the properties it does not belong to a user and a group. Does anybody has an idea what is the directory "osrt-repo-checker"? Is this maybe a clamav thing? I found not reference in the internet. There is an OSRTT project for "checking LED monitor latency" but that cannot possibly be the one. Suggestions on how to find out? Thank you.

Thank you. And inside the directory there is "bin" directory. Otherwise both directories are empty. User and group empty,

I think that osrt == open suse release tools. osrt-repo-checker is used to check and validate repositories. Could zypper or yast2 have dropped the directories there? Regards, Lew

Not empty, rather, presented as a numeric ID. If you didn't request that of 'ls', then it is because the user that created it no longer exists. One thing you should do is search for other files with the same owner or group: find /home /etc /*lib* /usr /var /tmp ! -uid 104 ! -gid 104 -o -ls -- Robert Webb

Thank you Robert and @Lew and -pj! First of all, very helpful to give me that command. The traces are all substantially of the same date. ntropy@silversurfer:~> sudo find /home /etc /*lib* /usr /var /tmp ! -uid 104 ! -gid 104 -o -ls [sudo] password di root: 60227585 4 drwx------ 6 104 104 4096 feb 4 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker 60227599 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 104 104 599 set 3 2022 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.i18n 60227593 4 drwx------ 5 104 104 4096 gen 24 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.local 60227597 4 drwx------ 2 104 104 4096 gen 14 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.local/state 60227595 4 drwx------ 3 104 104 4096 gen 24 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.local/share 60227596 4 drwx------ 2 104 104 4096 gen 14 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.local/share/fonts 60227594 4 drwx------ 2 104 104 4096 gen 14 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.local/bin 60227592 4 drwx------ 2 104 104 4096 gen 14 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.config 60227589 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 104 104 1637 ago 22 2022 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.emacs 60227598 4 drwxr-xr-x 2 104 104 4096 gen 14 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/bin 60227587 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 104 104 604 gen 11 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.bashrc 60227591 4 drwx------ 2 104 104 4096 gen 14 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.cache 60227590 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 104 104 861 ago 22 2022 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.inputrc 60227588 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 104 104 856 gen 11 2023 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.profile 60227600 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 104 104 1951 set 3 2022 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.xim.template 60227586 0 -rw------- 1 104 104 0 mag 18 1996 /home/ osrt-repo-checker/.bash_history curious the 1996 entrz. That is old or it is some bite that switched/got altered. If it should be opensuse-release tools, I would rather like to know who I can change the behavior because I really dislike any program clutter my home with some directory. I will investigate further. I have a notebook, will check if I have the same issue there.

osrt-repo-checker was previously provided as part of openSUSE-releases-tools as a tool for checking repository integrity and package status to support openSUSE release work. In other words, you had probably installed this tool.
