Sorry to post here but can't unsubscribe
I've tried to unsubscribe for a week now and nothing works. I don't get a response from mail list help either. All this mail is too much. I 'd rather check out the archives when I can. Any suggestions or info about this? thanks.

Yes, three below which appear on every post, plus the unsub listing in the header. Couldn't be more explicit unless someone else does it for you.

Sometimes explicit instructions do not work (in the abcense of list administrator) Some things look broken since Chris left. -Kastus

E.g., see this thread: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-security/2003-Nov/0001.html Regards, -Kastus
What's broken is that I can't get unsubscribed. Many suggestions from the list and someone even doing it for me and I still am on the list. I have sent a message to the list owner. If that doesn't do it, must be karma. Thanks for all the suggestions and help. Mads Martin Joergensen wrote:

Look in the headers and tell us what is says in the list-unsubscribe: line. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. P. J.
This is in the header: list-unsubscribe: <mailto:suse-linux-e-unsubscribe-pk=highstream.net@suse.com> BUT I have tried this AND another helpful person from this list has tried this for me. STILL i am on the list. SO, this morning I sent a message to the list-OWNER. Doesn't seem to be anything else to do. Mads Martin Joergensen wrote:

You did not send a mail to this emailaddress did you: suse-linux-e-unsubscribe-pk=highstream.net@suse.com If you cannot figure out to send an email to this one, henne (listowner) will unsub you. Or I will. We're both in possession of this nice high karma a.k.a root on lists.suse.com ;-) -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. Just to add a me too... I was having problems with my email last week, and tried to do a temporary unsubscribe from the SuSE list. I experienced the exact same thing. Sent off the email to the address in the header and nothing ever came back. I did the same on the SuSE-OT list and was able to unsubscribe, and resubscribe later the same day. The SuSE-e list unsubscribe was just a black hole. So... John Cox isn't the only one who has experienced this lately. C.

Well, then the owner can unsub you. I just wonder why it's only some people it does not work for ... -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. P. J.

OK. I've just tried unsubscribing. I'll report what happens. -- Vic Ayres

Follow the instructions you received when you subscribed. There are several methods. For example, look in the hidden headers of the mail list you receive. There is one like this: list-unsubscribe: <mailto:suse-linux-e-unsubscribe... You only need to send an empty email to that address. If you are using a _good_ mail client program, you will see below every mail a note like:
[ Note: This message contains email list management information ]
clicking there shows several options, one of them is the unsubscribe address for you. And, if every thing else fails, email the list -owner. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
