[SLE] cat'ing a tty to a text file?

I think what your looking for is tail, but I just tried it and it would
freeze the particular tty used until I pressed

Sorry, the program itself is called script, typescript is the default output file. Last I needed it, I was using SuSE6.0 and I didn't have to go looking for it, as it was already installed. It should still be in the default installation. Afterall, it is one of the most useful little programs. It is simply great for making a record of compile errors.
