Whatever applications or improvements you'd develop it wouldn't be necessarily
SUSE specific, but rather would work on any distribution. For example you
could work on KDE, Firefox or OpenOffice.org. Start with small patches,
bugfixes. A start would be to look in bugzilla from Novell/KDE/Firefox or
whatever project you'd like to work on, find bugs that you believe you can
fix, do that and send the patches.
