Actually I found out that if I select X-CD-Roast from the application menu thsn something starts .. I can see X-CD-Roast icon "X" flickering on the screen for a few seconds ... which should preceed the selected application "X-CD-Roast" to start ... unluckily after a few seconds the icon disappears and nothing starts at all ... HOW COME ? I verified that /usr/bin/cdrecord is installed .

It just says it is trying to start, but finds an error, eg, can't find a dependant app, can't find the app it is looking for, whatever. The only way I know of to figure it out is to try to start it from a terminal, from a command line (which you have already been doing) to see what error is returned. Richard
I will tell you why! (I bet you are running KDE also.) The SuSE 8.2 version of xcdroast looks for cdrecord and the other files in /usr/X11R6/bin. Quest what they are not there. QC must have missed this because this info comes from a CD fresh load yesterday. Confirm it by not using a applet selection but start it in a konsole (xterm) - watch the errors. -- 73 de Donn Washburn __ " http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB / / __ __ __ __ __ __ __ 307 Savoy St. / /__ / / / \/ / / /_/ / \ \/ / Sugar Land, TX 77478 /_____/ /_/ /_/\__/ /_____/ /_/\_\ LL# 1.281.242.3256 a MSDOS Virus "Free Zone" OS Email: n5xwb@hal-pc.org Info: http://www.knoppix.net
