well the idea was great, unfortunately it has no effect. I used the control panel-file associations to change the png file associated with pdf's. it seems to remember it but it has zero practical effect - even after reboot. somehow i think there is some other configuration file that remembers the associations which isn't affected by the panel. any ideas?? j. --- Johannes Liedtke <lists@liedtkeweb.de> wrote:

So the question is - how do I associate a small icon with my pdf's but leave the size of the icons for other applications unchanged?
hmm... I don't think there's a "planed feature" that can do this, but it's possible.
I just took the 16x16 icon for .pdf-mimetypes and created a new icon 32x32 where I inserted the 16x16 graphic on the bottom. The rest of the background is invisible. If you now associate pdf-files with the new icon it'll always be small.
I've attached it to this mail for you (not to the version for the list though...)
This should at least have the effect you wanted, hope it helps...
