I have noticed that my system has daily core dump in the root / directory. The only binaries on / are the kernels. This has happened with kernels SuSE 5.2 through 2.0.36
Is anyone experiencing the same problem? It is odd that a kernel core dumps on a daily basis. What and how, do I look for in the core dump, to detect the error?
TIA.

I don't think the kernel dumps core on a daily basis. Some time a program dumped core. Now you get a warning every day from cron that it found a core file which is older than 7 days. Just remove it. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
