I have trouble getting it to work, but if you have X11 forwarding
set to yes in your /etc/ssh/sshd_config, then you should be able to
ssh to the box from within an X session on your local box (or use
something like ReflectionX in Windows), and simply execute the Exceed
command and it should display back to your local box.  The key is to
make sure your DISPLAY variable ("echo $DISPLAY") is set.  If it's
blank, then the X11 forwarding piece of sshd is not working, and
manually setting the variable will make it work, but not over ssh.
If it's something like 10.1.1.1:0 then Exceed will work, but it will
not be tunneled through ssh.   If it's something like 10.1.1.1:10.0,
then it should work as you want.  Use netstat to look at your
established connections to verify you have no remote 6000
connections, to make sure it's working.

Subject: [SLE] XWindows over SSH setup help!

Hi all,

Here's a scenario I want to know if anyone has setup before (I am
sure
you have :P) and if you could give me some advice.

I want to be able to use say Exceed for windows and connect remotely
to
my linux box via ssh. I have ssh tunnels enabled on both my server
and
client software, what software setup do I need on the linux side.
Does
my system need to be in runlevel 5 or just have xdm running? What
else
am I missing! Any faqs on how to set this up?

Tia..
Eric
