Spoke to soon. Just checked virtualbox.org and found that Sun is going to start demanding $1US for every GB of virtual disk you create. Bummer. :-)
That's expensive! What a hell of a profit margin!
.... Well considering I can get a 1TB hard drive for ~$80 and 128G esata SSD for ~$145 (just now checked online), I think it's insane to send 15X the price for basic storage. My working storage is still just fine on disk, thank you; and my offline backup is, too. And I have much more than 128G in family and professional stuff I really want to keep -- not just trinkets like cute news and Hollywood photos and videos. And USB flash drives have made mobile computing very, very convenient -- I keep my 32G flash drive in my pocket for downloading interesting stuff I find when I'm online away from home or work. Yeah, there's a place for the SSD, but it's not in my systems yet. I'm subject neither to the fashion motives nor the high-reliability strictures that might justify the huge price difference.
