I did use third party ink so that's more than likely the problem. Over here n Europe you may as well go out and buy a new printer than buy genuine Epson ink refills. That's the problem.
In the past, I have had the same problem with an Epson and Canon. The use of 3rd party inks may cause problems. Each vendor, specifically Epson and HP formulate their inks to work properly with the hardware. I now have an HP all-in-one that works flawlessly, and we only buy HP branded inks, usually discounted somewhere.
In any case, make sure the printer that you get is highly supported by Linux. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9 Just a comment: I have an Epson CX6600 and have been using 3rd party ink cartridges. Brand name Premium Imaging Products, no manufacturers name. I have used them for 6 months with no problems. Costs are about 30% cheaper
