<br>1x maxtor ide 61gb 96147u8&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; hdd<br>4x maxtor sata 160gb 6L160m0&nbsp;&nbsp; sda/sdb/sdc/sdd<br><br>now i want to raid the first two disks (ide) as the following<br>1gb /boot md0 ext2<br>30gb / md1 reiserfs<br>2gb / md2 swap
<br>(i have my own reasons on why i want to partition so, so no need to quote on that :)<br><br>the sata drives are to be in a raid5 md3 (xfs)<br><br>now when opensuse 10.1 attempts to detect the hard drives, <br>it claims that the ide disks and second sata disk are presented by
<br>the bios as being in configured for fake raid, now this is not true as <br>i have disabled all raid related refferences from the bios.<br>/dev/hda /dev/hdd /dev/hdc<br><br>what could be causing that and any ideas on how it could be fixed?
<br><br>i tried to continue, and i was able to successfully install suse 10.1 on<br>single ide disks without raid without any probs, both ide disks worked fine.<br>but when i try to configure software raid (from linux) and to use the ide disks.
