Hi, all.
I've recently install 64-bit OpenSuSE 12.3. It's my first experience of SuSE & I'm enjoying it.
:-) I have and use other distributions as part of my work/life balance but openSuse is still my favourite :-)
I recently added the packman repo in order to get the restricted codecs for Chromium & since doing so I see this error message every time I run 'zypper up':
Its not an "error" its a notification.
'The following package updates will NOT be installed: gstreamer gstreamer-0_10 gstreamer-0_10-plugin-gnomevfs [....]
I'm figuring there's a conflict somewhere hence the packages can't be installed. Is there anyway to clean up this situation?
As you said, you recently installed the packman repo. There are packages that occur both there and elsewhere. As the manual page for zypper says: <qupte> This command will not update packages which would require change of package vendor </quote> There could be other reasons why they are not being installed but they all get back to that. RTFM. The most likely is that they occur in a repo that doesn't have a higher priority than the the repo in which the already installed equivalents come from. If you look at the "# yast2 sw_single" gui screen you can see that repos have priorities and can be enabled and disabled. You can also make a repo There are a number of ways to force change of repository.
