Any ideas on how to sort out permissions when systemd is managing autofs? I have googled, but all seems to discuss when you set up autofs yourself. I can do that. But we are trying to make this less complicated for the people who are managing the systems.
Just to straighten out one thing - they are really two different systems. There is autofs and there is the systemd equivalent. I believe the latter is not quite as advanced as autofs, but that's probably irrelevant in this context. They basically lead to the same thing - automatic execution of 'mount' or 'umount'.
The problem is the top-level mount point. I do not seem to have any control over the permissions. So if a user inserts a disk, they cannot make any files in the top level of the disk.
Maybe a drawing would make this more visible? Which disks are your users inserting/removing? usb, sata hotplug?
But that is what I need. When we were not using automount, the mount point's permissions were whatever the disk file had. They were not changed by the mount command. Autofs sets the permissions to rwx------.
You should be able to see the exact mount command that is being issued, maybe with some debug option for systemd? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-2.9°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
