As you saw, he used hp utility programs (hp-check, hp-diagnose_plugin, etc.) to find out the cause with reference to sys.log.

I apologize for the late answer. I set all cups queues with this printer to the recommended driver (hp-laserjet_p3010_series-ps.ppd.gz) and also installed hlip package (earlier I had only hpijs). (I don't know if hplip is really necessary or had effect on fixing the problem, or the recommended driver was sufficient to solve it.) Since then I had no problem like before. I hope it will stay like this. I will check the commands you mentioned. Thank you very much, Istvan
